Faculty Writing Program

The Faculty Writing Program is an initiative created and maintained by the Writing Center and the Office of Sponsored Projects and Research Compliance (SPaRC). Through this program, the Writing Center offers a range of support for faculty writers. Summaries of our regularly scheduled programs and a form to request additional events or support can be found below. Additional questions regarding the Faculty Writing Program can be directed to Will Toner, Kaleb Beavers, and Dalila Alves. For additional faculty resources specific to grants and grant writing, please visit the SPaRC website.

Scheduled Programming

Faculty Fridays:

  • The Writing Center hosts a weekly writing group for faculty on Fridays from 10:30am-12:00pm during the academic year. These events do not require registration and faculty are invited to drop in to the Writing Center anytime during the 10:30am-12:00pm timeslot. Complimentary coffee, snacks, and writing consultations are available on Faculty Fridays.

Write-Ins:

  • SPaRC and the Writing Center co-sponsor Faculty Write-Ins throughout the year. These events generally run for one full day (9:00am-4:00pm) and include complimentary breakfast and lunch. During Faculty Write-Ins, Writing Center and SPaRC staff are available for consultations. Unlike Faculty Fridays, registration is required for Faculty Write-Ins.

Writing Retreats:

  • These multi-day events are designed for faculty to delve deep into scholarly projects, pursue grants, network with fellow academics, and share techniques to maximize their productivity. Writing Center and SPaRC staff provide writing, research, and grant support throughout the retreats. Writing Retreats have contributed to the advancement of several publications; they have given faculty from across disciplines a forum to share their work and support one another in their pursuit of scholarly excellence. Registration is required for Writing Retreats.
